Turkish Connections International
2009 Short Term Project
June 28 - July 12, 2010

Purpose of the Short Term Project:

What is this project?

This summer we will reach out in the city of Istanbul primarily by offering English-speaking classes. These classes will be advertised in the local newspapers and should lead to hundreds of interested Turkish men and women. All materials for the classes will be provided and can be facilitated easily by anyone. All of this will be done under the mentorship of experienced leaders. As we meet and develop friendships, there will be many opportunities to share our faith. Basic training in Islamic beliefs, teaching English, and friendship evangelism will be provided before we depart.

Where is this project?

We will be working in the fascinating city of Istanbul located in northwestern Turkey.

When will this project take place?

We will leave on Monday, June 30th and return on Sunday, July 13th. Our schedule will be:
June 28:  Departure.

June 29th – July 4th:  Preparation-During those days we will review our training as we visit the sites of Paul's First Missionary Journey. (see Acts 13 & 14)

July 5th – 11th:  Teaching English and relational outreach in Istanbul.

July 12th: Return to USA.

What is the cost?

The cost for this project will be $1600 per person (including housing, First Missionary Tour, all meals and transportation within Turkey). This does not include airfare (approx. $1400 - 1600) and visa (approx. $25). This is a very family friendly project and children are welcome (we recommend at least age 9 and above).

Why this project?

Our goal is to help with churches in Istanbul. Our efforts to build friendships and positively express our Christian faith will lead to interested individuals that can be reached in further ways after our departure.
